Solution Focused Hypnotherapy

 

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is an entirely modern therapeutic approach which uses a combination of trance and psychotherapy and can be a great catalyst for change. It is drug free, there is no physical manipulation and the conscious mind, with its anxious or analytical thoughts, is bypassed. It is the conscious mind which can often hinder success. The client and therapist work together to focus on the changes that the client wants to make in their life. Beneficial results are often achieved quickly because we do not focus on the problems, but rather on your goals.

The therapist guides the client into a relaxed state through trance, enabling direct access to the subconscious mind. This is where our instinctive behaviour patterns and natural reactions are formed. Using positive suggestion and imagery, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy allows the mind to focus on positive change.

I have enjoyed working immensely with children, teens and adults, and helping them successfully overcome issues such as anxiety, depression, weight issues and recover self-esteem. The greatest joy I experience in my practice is seeing my clients, previously unable to reach their goals, finally finding it in themselves to make those much desired changes.

What is Trance?

Trance is very natural and normal. We go in and out of a trance state every day and throughout the day. Have you ever been in your car only to realise that you can’t remember driving part of the route? Or when you are in a meeting at work, daydreaming, and you suddenly “snap back” and realise you missed part of a presentation?

"Strettle’s elusiveness means there is already a buzz of anticipation in the Twickenham stands when he gets the ball, but he says he is oblivious to the crowd. “I notice the crowd when I run on and off the pitch, but otherwise I’ve got my blinkers on and I don’t hear a thing.”

Not “hearing a thing” from 40,000 Twickenham fans is an example of naturally-occurring trance, when your mind is in such a state of focused attention, it excludes all external stimuli.

Hypnosis relaxes your body profoundly and allows you to access your subconscious. Contrary to common perceptions, hypnosis is not about mind control. Therapeutic hypnosis is beneficial in reaching the subconscious mind and working efficiently in promoting desired changes. No one can make you do anything you don’t want to do. Any suggestions made during a trance state that are deemed inappropriate by the subconscious, will simply be rejected.
